Special Guest Speaker For January 18th Meeting

Jamie Beyer: Central Iowa Water Garden President

The Water Garden Society of Greater Kansas City is honored to have Jamie Beyer, President of the Central Iowa Water Garden Society, as their guest speaker for the January 18th meeting at the Discovery Center. What a great way to start the new year!!

Water Gardening has been a passion of Jamie’s  for over 40 years and he currently has three 10,000 gallon ponds which contain many kinds of water plants and fish. He is has a Master’s Degree in Fish and Wildlife Biology, making him uniquely qualified to be one of the Midwest’s foremost experts on the subject. His broad background of fisheries, dynamics of water, wildlife ecology, and horticulture gives him impressive credentials. He frequently speaks on all aspects of water features and water gardening to groups such as the Kansas City Water Garden Society.

Also a Master Gardener, Jamie knows what to plant where and when to plant it, so landscaping the ponds he designs comes natural.

In addition to his speaking  engagements, Jamie also has a consulting/installation business called Midwest Waterscapes. In this capacity he works as a water garden fountain and pond consultant/installer to people who need extra help. His considerable experience installing ponds, diagnosing water garden problems and teaching  classes and helping “do-it-yourselfers“, do it right gives him one more  outlet for spreading his knowledge around.

Since the late 1980’s, Jamie has been involved with the design and installation pf over 500 water gardens and features. Never one to rest on his laurels, Jamie and co-author, Veronica Fowler,  have written the Ortho Book “All About Garden Pools and Fountains“. To date over  half a million copies have been sold.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the January 18th  meeting when Jamie brings his knowledge and enthusiasm to The Discovery Center. There may be a better way to start the New Year but seeing and hearing  what an expert like Jamie Beyer  has to say must be near the top of the list!
